Big Trip

Posted in dog on October 28th, 2009 by Elizabeth – 2 Comments

Eli is making not only his first road trip with us but also his first ferry ride. We have no idea what to expect. We have packed plenty of treats, bones, toys, his bed, a travel food and water bowl, and food. We plan to stop as often as needed but have no idea how Eli will be two hours into the trip.  Hopefully we have enough to pacify him until we get to my brother’s.  Then Eli will be doing a lot of visiting and better be on his best behavior (especially at Grandma’s).

Plenty of pictures to follow.

November 30

My next surgery date has been set for November 30. The Monday after Thanksgiving.  Hopefully the triptophan has worn off by then.  My procedure is at noon and will be in the OR but I will leave that day.  Heck, for part of it they won’t even be giving me any anesthesia since the procedure happens in a place where the nerve endings have not regenerated yet.   I hope they give me some anxiety medicine because I don’t want to see them performing the surgery regardless of whether I can feel it or not.

I will say that having no feeling is weird and weird when you notice it coming back.

Three for three!

More proof of my awesomeness. Jackson Daniel was born at 4:06 pm.

Congratulations Kristin and Charlie! Cupcakes for everyone.

Anxiously awaiting…

Word that Baby Martine finally entered the world.  Kristin’s (awesome cake master and maker of my wedding cupcakes/cake)  water broke in the wee hours of Saturday and the baby decided he (my guess and remember I am currently 2 for 2 in guessing genders) just wasn’t ready.  He is not even here yet and he is being very stubborn.  Hmmm maybe it is a girl…

Which reminds me that we have to get the cake to have on our anniversary.  Maybe I will bring it with us to Georgia.  Kristen and Jonathan seem down with eating year old cake.

Additional Screening Tests

I will now be getting additional screening tests every year: CA 125 blood test and pelvic ultrasounds.  I am more than happy to oblige since the screening with MRIs was more than beneficial.

Visitors

Eli is in heaven as he has visitors who are lavishing attention on him.  Ann, Katie, Megan and Ryan are here.  He is currently under the blanket between Ann and Ryan.  I believe he showed his belly and got the belly rubbed.  He is one spoiled dog.

Work work work

Work is insanely busy for me and will be until January at least. Which I guess is good in this economy. I better get a trip to Switzerland out of all this.

Next round of procedures…

I will be needing the final procedure (to more or less tidy things up including my abdominal incisions) some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Typically things are just done with local numbing solutions but I may have to be put under so while it will be a short procedure, it will be a bit more involved than normally.  At this point I just want to be done with it all.

Winter is here way too early

There is snow sticking in our backyard.  It is October 18.  It is too early. I have said since July that we are going to have a bad winter.  I am a Pisces and we are known to be psychic.

While I still don’t have a winter coat, I did get a new pom hat and that is all I need.  I just hope our visitors next week are ready for the cold.

On a doctor related note, I have another appointment with the plastic surgeon about the follow up procedures (typically outpatient) and when they will be.  It seems strange to have a doctor’s appointment after a long lapse.

That is the total.
