Honeymoon (Part 2): Kauai

Posted in honeymoon on April 30th, 2009 by Elizabeth – Comments Off

We left the hills of San Fran for the 50th state. And the relaxation was about to begin. First stop Kauai, the Garden Island. Brendan planned activities for Kauai, two to be exact.

A helicopter ride which had us meeting Keith Robinson and he was a very interesting guy.  His family owns most of Kauai and the entire island of Niihau.  We helicoptered onto his land and he showed us some rare species of taro.

Brendan also arranged for a zipline tour. Yes, I zipped through the air. I purposely wore the Marvel Comics Super Heroes tee shirt that I bought for Brendan but then decided I liked it more than he did so I kept it.

After we ziplined, the group walked to a waterfall and pool of water. It is here that I jumped off the cliff (25 feet) into the water much to Brendan’s surprise.

We also did nothing. Here is the view from the hotel beach.

And here I am feeding the hotel Koi.

I wish I was back on the island. Permanently.

Honeymoon (Part 1): San Francisco

We stopped in San Francisco on our way out to Hawaii. It helped break up the trip a bit and eased us into our vacation.

So I didn’t know that San Francisco was very, very hilly. Very. Hilly. But it is beautiful. We walked almost everywhere.  Well we did walk everywhere but we didn’t walk everywhere in San Francisco.

We saw cable cars.

Walked up to Coit Tower and the view was amazing.

The best part was taking the night tour of Alcatraz. It was so cool to walk around the “rock”. I actually got a bit freaked out during the tour when we went into the “hospital”. It was very dark and then I know someone died in that place. And that someone was waiting there to scare the crap out of me. So I ran downstairs to the other part of the building.

While walking around we happened upon the Musee Mechanique which was a collection of old time arcade games. We spent a lot of time, and quarters, in this place.
I loved the little peaks into a different time.

…some things have happened. Namely, we got married.

And while the day had some rain in the beginning, it ended up being a great time. We had a blast and everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves.

And the cupcakes were amazing!

Brendan had mentioned that you will be hearing about Switzerland and Mets Opening Day.  And you will, but we still have to catch up on November 16 to April 1 first.

Welcome

It’s finally here.  After months of being lazy I finally got our new blog online.  This is the site we’ll use to keep everyone updated on our adventures, ideas, comings, goings, etc.  Check back often as we’ll being making lots of changes in the beginning to get a good look and feel for the site.

Some things you’ll probably see soon include photos from our recent trip to Switzerland and photos from Mets opening day at the new Citi Field.

Some predictions for our new blog:

  • Elizabeth will post more than I will.
  • My posts will mostly be about sports, or computers.
  • Elizabeth or I will retract at least one post at some point in time.
  • I will probably do something to make the whole thing crash while trying to “make it better”.

Stay tuned, more to come…
