The Sing-Off

Posted in Television on December 20th, 2009 by Elizabeth – Comments Off

Also I came home to find Brendan totally enthralled with “The Sing-Off“. He quickly proclaimed that we are watching the finale on Monday

He is now explaining to me why he likes the Beelzebubs (from Tufts right down the road).

Dead Pigeons

Yesterday I was walking to the cafeteria (in the building across the street from mine) with a colleague.  She was talking about how she noticed five (5) dead pigeons along the side of the building where she usually parks.  She found this strange.  I commented that it was odd.  And then we stepped outside and A PIGEON FELL OUT OF THE SKY.  It dropped dead.  Right next to us.  While we were talking about the plethora of dead pigeons.  Dead. Pigeon. Sky. Crazy.

And if you watch Flash Forward on ABC you can see why I was a little freaked out.  Bad things happen when birds die en masse.

Guiding Light

So the Guiding Light is one of the original soap operas is going off the air this week.  As a child, I remember my mother watching this show as well as Ann.  I continued to watch it but added Days of Our Lives into the mix.  But at heart I am a CBS soap fan.

So I started to watch GL again last week and thanks to the Internet, I am fully caught up on the newer characters and it is like I have been watching forever.  Reva is still around as well as Rick and Philip.  Heck even Melinda Sue is back.  So I am back to watching GL and will bid it farewell on Friday.

There is one memory I have of watching Guiding Light with Ann that for some reason I remember.  I had to have been around 6 or 7 and we were watching GL.  Rick Bauer and Roxie Shayne (Reva’s sister who is now in a mental institution) had spent the night in someone else’s bed and all of a sudden said person was coming home.  So they had to get up and change the sheets.  Now remember I am 6 or 7 so I turn to Ann and ask, “Why are they changing the sheets?”  Ann replies “They probably made a mess and need to change the sheets.”  But me being me, I pushed it further with “But they just slept in the bed.  What mess did they make?”  I don’t know Ann’s response to that last bit.   I understand now why they wanted to change the sheets.

Project Runway

It was great to Kevin here those first two days. It was good to know that he is now drinking caffeinated coffee. It was annoying how much decaf he was drinking. I was very surprised to learn that he is a fan of Project Runway. So we actually watched it together before he left. (I gave him directions home and assume he made it back but that is a big assumption.) I do not know who I want to win just yet. Maybe Christopher, maybe one of the girls. It turns out that one of my nurses went to high school with Althea. Such a small world.

Another small world story. B and I go to alot of college hockey games. In fact, our first many dates were to BC hockey games and we have even traveled for some tournament games. We were talking about college hockey to our visiting nurse. Turns out her dad played at BC and her uncle (dad’s twin) played at BU. Oh and her uncle is legendary coach Jack Parker (she called him Jackie). AYKM???

Side note…

I am completely shocked that Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush broke up. Seriously – shocked.

A special thanks to Little Rhody, Polyester and Easterly for their awesomeness. And where can I get a bean bra?

Jon and Kate Plus 8

Posted in Television on June 19th, 2009 by Elizabeth – 1 Comment

I used to watch this show but since it became one big product placement I stopped.  Plus I always thought Kate was mean to Jon and she was/is.

We did watch the season premiere to see how John and Kate interacted since all the alleged affairs.  Now there will be a big announcement on Monday’s show.  Everyone is saying divorce but it could be that they are adopting a baby for all we know.   Brendan will probably want to watch.

But the kids are very cute and make me want half-Asian children (which is impossible due to Brendan not being Asian – one of his flaws) because of how cute they are.  Anyway, if I had to steal two of the kids I would take Alexis and Collin.  They are my favorite – and yes I have favorites.

My latest obsessions…

Posted in Television on June 17th, 2009 by Elizabeth – 2 Comments

In order to hide from the real world I have become obsessed with the following television shows:

  • Real Housewives of New Jersey – “We’re as thick as thieves.”  I love that crap.  B likes the Real Housewives of New York better.
  • Tori and Dean - Crazy but they remind us of me and B
  • I’m a Celebrity Get Me Outta Here – Now that Heidi and Spencer are gone.  This show is crazy.  I need to start voting
  • Charm School 3 – The only annoying part is Brendan saying “Bay Bay Bay” repeatedly while I watch the show.  I love you but stop.
  • Daisy of Love – But I only like to watch the eliminations.  I think 12 pack is going all the way!  Double entendre not intended but I like it.

So that has been my life recently and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Help Tara Win!

Posted in Television on May 6th, 2009 by Elizabeth – Comments Off

Brendan and I have been following the Biggest Loser Couples and want the Brown team to lose. Ron is the dad and Mike is the son. We don’t like them. We liked Sione and Filipe but they got voted off. Now we are hoping Tara wins it. Help Tara win by saving Ron. Ron won’t win it but Mike has a good chance. Vote for Ron!

Vote by clicking here.  By saving Ron you help Tara.

Yes we are obsessed but the winters are long and cold here in New England.
