Elizabeth & Brendan

To be honest, we are not having a good run with the sports teams here in Somerville.

• Mets – meh
• BC football – not looking good due to the whole QB situation
• Giants – the G-men look to be having some troubles
• BC basketball while has improved with a new coach, the expectations are not too high

On the bright side, BC hockey got the preseason #1 ranking.  However, they typically pick it up in February and that is when the season gets interesting.

I am “running” a 5K on Saturday and in preparation I went to the gym yesterday.  This was probably my first visit in about a year.  Needless to say, I completed a 5K on the treadmill in 34:50 so we know that I will finish and not puke at the end.  Hard to believe I once ran a marathon. 

Then after the 5K we have to go over to the BC/VT game that starts at noon.  Planning to sleep in on Sunday…

I swear, it is either feast of famine witho our lives.

After a few weeks of just tending to the house, we have blasted off into the stratosphere. 

• This past weekend we flew to NYC Thursday night and then had a whirlwind two days in NYC.  Friday we started in Park Slope, eating bagels with Emily and goddaughter Lily (who was all smiles and giggles when we there and we thank her for the great disposition) then went to the Upper East side to hang with Billy for a bit, then down to Grand Central for some happy hour delights, followed by a trip to Citi Field (Mets won) and the night ended hanging with Jason and Selena at Muldoon’s.   Saturday we got up, went to nephew AJ’s christening and left around 3:00 for Boston. 
• Brendan then caught a flight to the UK that night (I went home).  So now I am hanging with the pupster alone this week and Brendan returns Friday night. 
• Then dinner with UK friends and the Meklers. 
• Saturday we go to the first BC game of the season, then head back to Logan and take another flight to NYC – for Lily’s baptism on Sunday.  Then we head home Monday. 
• That Thursday, Brendan leaves for Las Vegas and I leave on Friday.  We will be going to his friend’s wedding there.  Then we come back on Monday morning (love the red eye!). 
• We have a two week travel break and then I am back to Switzerland for a week. 
• And there are two more potential work trips for me before Christmas (Frankfurt and another Swiss trip).

I need a nap just thinking about all this.

So we made it through a blustery, snowy night at Fenway.  It was a ton of fun, even if BC lost.  But when you have a two-man advantage for 2 minutes and get ZERO shots on goal, you kind of deserve to lose.  Not only was the cold not that bad (we prepared) but the snow made it very picturesque and everyone was very friendly.  Because of how it was set up, we stood up the whole time but it didn’t seem that bad.

Alett and Hugh are in chilly Florida for the Disney Marathon weekend.  Saturday is the half-marathon and you get a Donald Duck medal when you finish.  Sunday is the full marathon and you get a Mickey Mouse Medal if you finish.  But if you finish BOTH you get a Goofy medal for the Goofy challenge (which is what they are doing).  ‘Cause only a goof would run a half-marathon one day and a full marathon the next.  So “Good luck” and you are entitled to unlimited cupcakes after Sunday.

Speaking of hockey, we have just a few days to get some hand warmers for Hockey East at Fenway. So excited!

We are off to the game and it is “BC Beat Cancer” day in honor of Mark Herzlich.

I am finally going to a BC game tomorrow.  BC vs Wake Forest.

Now the only question is do we crate Eli or leave him out?
