New year, new resolutions

Posted in Boston-area, Holidays on January 1st, 2012 by Elizabeth – 2 Comments

My new year’s resolution is to run one race per month and Brendan has adopted this one as well. But I can’t complain since I took a co worker’s new year resolution to run a 5k in 2011 and modified it. (she fulfilled it on December 18th when we ran the Yulefest Cambridge 5k.)

We started the resolution off with a new year’s day 5k with optional ocean plunge. Brendan and I both ran much better than expected. We ran so well we both took the plunge.  Here is the first picture.  1 down, 11 to go.

December Vacation

Posted in Holidays on August 22nd, 2011 by Elizabeth – 2 Comments

I am finally getting to my Strasbourg Christmas Market.  When in Switzerland I had fallen in love with the Christmas market.  I love it.  And when I was there, everyone would talk about the market in Strasbourg and how it is the oldest one in Europe and it is amazing.  So Brendan and I are cashing in our flight vouchers and heading to Paris and Strasbourg.  Brendan is excited to see what has changed since he lived there.  I am looking forward to the tarte flambee and Quick.  And of course the market!  So we are heading off in the beginning of December for some fun.  Allons-y!

B bought me  some cupcakes for Valentine’s Day and also got Eli a pupcake!  The bakery sells dog treats which Eli loved!

Valentine’s Day…

8 years ago to the day, Brendan and I met at a Lonely Hearts Hash starting at Maryann’s.

As we always do on Valentine’s Day, we will be having fondue.  This year we will also be watching the Beanpot.

Go Eagles!

Blizzard of 2010

Posted in Boston-area, dog, Holidays on December 27th, 2010 by Elizabeth – Comments Off

On Christmas Eve, we got word of a blizzard.  As the holiday played out, the blizzard got bigger and bigger.  We decided to cut our stay short in order to beat the storm.  We left Brooklyn at 9:30 and got home around 4:00.  This included a stop for gas, the bathroom, food and firewood. We made it home just before the driving conditions got too bad.

This morning getting Eli out in the yard to do his business was difficult.  Being the smarty that he is, he realized that it was cold and snow deep.  He needed to be coaxed out.  So ahead I went, paving a trail to make it easier for him to walk.  Here he is scoping out the scene.

And here he is trying to walk around.

The current accumulation is at about 15 inches and it is still snowing…

Favorite quote of the trip…

Set scene: We are in a gift shop looking and I am looking for an ornament.

B: Do we have a manger?
Me: What?
B: Do we have a manger?
Me: No.
B: We need a manger! Right? We should have a manger.

Ok – I will get on that one…

Deutschland?

Posted in Family, Holidays, work on February 17th, 2010 by Elizabeth – 2 Comments

I may be heading to Frankfurt, Germany in the near future. And by Frankfurt, I mean the airport. I am working on a conference for physicians at the Frankfort Sheraton which is adjacent to the airport. I would fly in, work and fly out and all I will see is the airport. Oh and this is over Brendan’s birthday. Last year I had to be in Switzerland for his birthday and this year I will be in Frankfurt. And before the “poor Brendan” comments start, he gets good gifts and is well fed. He will be fine.
