walking and eating
There’s been alot of movement since my last post. Some of it has been quite literal. We’re out of icu. Liz has a private room in one of the newer sections of the building. It’s very much like a hotel, complete with room service. She is on to solid foods (grilled cheese). There have been some bumps in the road with some nausea and vomiting but for the most part she is doing well and fighting through it.
And she’s walking. Well, she takes about 2 dozen steps out into the hallway and then we turn her around and steer her back but she’s walking!! Now that we’re in the private room she has had some visitors which really seems to lift her spirits.
Tonight I am home. Eli’s been staying with some friends (big thank you to Alett and Hugh) but tomorrow he goes to his “day care” which will actually hold him for the weekend for us. Plus I need to shower and shave as I think I was starting to scare Liz a bit.
They spoke to us a bit today about the “release plan”. Right now it looks like either Saturday or Sunday most likely. Liz’s primary surgeon keeps saying Sunday but every other doctor says Friday or Saturday [Friday seems very unlikely at this point]. He’s the guy in charge, so my guess is Sunday. We will have a visiting nurse who will come by to check her out. It won’t be everyday but it’s good to know we won’t be out on our own.
More to come as I have time. Thanks for all the emails, calls and well wishes.
She’s making great progress! She has a lot of her grandmother in her.
Give Liz our love.
Glad to hear that Liz is out of surgery and recovering. Hope they let her home today or tomorrow rather than Sunday, I know the anticipation to leave only intensifies! Will keep the good thoughts coming…

Liz is doing fantastically well, delighted to hear
Send her our best
So glad to hear of her progress – hope she gets home tomorrow. There’s nothing like snuggling with your love and your pooch to make things better. Give her my love! Thinking of you two.
Wow! Walking around already! Glad to hear Liz’s spirits are up. Hope the nausea has subsided. Keep the updates coming when you can. Take care, Liz!
