Literary Pimping

Posted in Shout out on February 3rd, 2010 by Elizabeth – 2 Comments

So Brendan’s friend Jay (aka Nass aka Jason Mulgrew) wrote a book (Brendan is mentioned in the Acknowledgements). And since Brendan does his website, we thought we would help him out by pimping out his book – which can now be pre-ordered now but will be available in stores on March 2.

Here is one review (chosen because of who wrote it)
“After reading this book, I’m surprised there’s not more wrong with Jason Mulgrew. People who grow up like this tend to become agoraphobics, serial killers, or really funny writers. Mulgrew, I think— hope?—is the last of these three things. His stories of childhood made me laugh out loud. Jason: I did your quote; please don’t murder me.” — Rob McElhenney, star, creator, and producer of IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA

Pre-order now at:

- Amazon

- Borders

- Barnes & Noble

- IndieBound

So while I was enthralled with “Breaking Dawn” (the last book of the Twilight series) on Sunday morning, Eli was roaming the house. After it being quiet too long, I called Eli and he came downstairs. I was proud that he came so quickly (we have been working on coming when called).

Later that day I went upstairs and found out why it was so quiet. Our lovely dog jumped up on the bed (no no number 1) and chewed up my glasses beyond repair (no no number 2).

Here is what used to be my glasses.

Holy Cannoli

Friends Keith and Jen went to North Conway and stopped by an animal bakery. And they bought Eli a treat – a cannoli to be exact. I guess humans could eat it but I would rather stick to Italian.

Here it is. I love the decoration and detail.

Then Eli attacked and the cannoli had no chance.

Because it has been awhile.  Here is an old video and some new pictures.

Eli running around with Pig.

This is what you get when you are trying to eat on the couch and won’t let Eli near you.

Voted…

But it may not have been enough. Brown has a double digit lead according to exit polls.

I was listed under my married name for those playing along at home.

Fear

I do have a fear that I will not be able to vote because of my name change. I have my passport which is still under my maiden name so I could use that as back up.

Partisan Voting

So this upcoming Tuesday (January 19) is the special election to fill the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s seat. And I am less than thrilled with my options: Martha Coakley and Scott Brown.  But in the end, I cannot have Ted Kennedy’s seat go to a Republican.  I just can’t.  But I really don’t like Martha Coakley – she is blah.

But the amount of money being pumped into this election is insane.  Seriously ads are everywhere.  It is not uncommon to watch TV and see pro-Brown, followed by an anti-Coakley, followed by another anti-Coakley and then pro-Coakley, and an anti-Brown.  It is crazy.  In fact, there is a robocall message being left on my phone right now about the election.  It is everywhere.  And I bet Obama is pissed that the DNC let it get this close and he had to come up to Mass to stump for Coakley.  He probably had better plans for a Sunday then to come up here.

At least the Cowboys are out of the playoffs.  Next hope is the Jets lose.  Then Brown loses.

Back to Switzerland

I am headed back to Switzerland January 23rd and this time in style. Yup, business class. I am arriving a day earlier to make it more economical but that is okay. I am so excited to get a choice of movies!

Hockey East at Fenway

So we made it through a blustery, snowy night at Fenway.  It was a ton of fun, even if BC lost.  But when you have a two-man advantage for 2 minutes and get ZERO shots on goal, you kind of deserve to lose.  Not only was the cold not that bad (we prepared) but the snow made it very picturesque and everyone was very friendly.  Because of how it was set up, we stood up the whole time but it didn’t seem that bad.
